Add or remove your calls using the by simply attaching new loops to the lanyard. DIY Lanyards are braided with heavy-duty nylon paracord for a lifetime of hunting. This is a good book for ideas. It shows what can be done with lightweight steel stock and a few metal working tools. The pictures are high quality.

However, the projects are poorly done. In a book like this, I expected to see professional looking welds with nice regular beads. Instead they look like pigeon droppings - the sort of thing one might expect from a rank beginner. Nor is this just a matter of appearance, some of the welds just look unsound with poor penetration and fusion. There is no attempt to design the projects so that the welds are out of sight and these are not the kind of projects where the look of the welds adds to the overall appearance, especially since they are so poorly executed. Some of the projects involve scrolled flat stock. The scrolls are not done well. Curves are misshapen, the ends have flat spots from the bender and matched pairs are glaringly assymetric. The purchase of this product was a knee jerk reaction/purchase to being broken into last fall. The choice of having nothing vs having to subscribe to an alarm service was not pleasing. A relative has a similar DIY alarm system and said they were happy with it and this provided a middle ground.

As stated, the instructions are a little hard to digest at first, but once you understand it, it's fairly easy to program the unit and sensors. (The picture shows the alarm having an extendable antenna as well as the sensors, but the unit received did not have any.)

The supplied no name batteries didn't last very long. The one motion sensor that is in a high traffic area died with in 3 months and the replacement battery is not doing so well (brand name). So don't be surprised if you have to replace the 9V battery twice or three times a year in high traffic areas. There are a lot of instructions on this product, although complicated at first, if you follow the instructions correctly and take your time to read them, it will work.

The package come with the included sensors already paired with the base, so, all I needed to do was to change the passwords and include my phone numbers.

When it calls me, I can hear what is going on ONLY if the alarm is in the silent mode, since it has a pretty loud noise coming from the base (where the mic is).

The door sensor works pretty good, every time I forgot to disarm, it goes off. The motion detector, it is not the most reliable, but it also works, I believe the reliability has to do with the fact that it seems to read the environment every 5 seconds or so.

I live in a small apartment, and I don't know what is the actual range of these devices and cannot say if they work well in large houses/apartments.

So far, it is working OK.

Very easy to construct, but I suggest you assemble it without gluing first, in case you make a mistake. Then reassemble with glue. The catapult worked better than promised. It shoots well beyond 15 feet. My 5 yr old needed some help using it at first. Note, if you have problems, contact the manufacturer. They are very accommodating. The swing arm split on ours, but the manufacturer responded quickly with a replacement.

My son had to make a catapult for a school project. I'm a single mom with no woodworking experience or tools. This product was EXTREMELY easy to put together, took less than an hour and my son did it himself, (he's 12). The only draw back was the strength of the material, on the second launch, the spoon portion of the mechanism broke, thank god for Gorilla glue and a c-clamp. On the third launch the cross-bar broke in half. We had to cut tongue depressors in half, drill holes, and Gorilla glue the two pieces to the broken cross-bar. We then glued the stopper bar into the cross-bar for added support. The catapult actually won a contest at school for distance, surprising for it's size. The spoon broke again and will need more repair, but it held up for the "Medeivel Faire"
Test the project thoroughly before using. You may need to switch out glue, as well as do some reinforcing. Overall, inexpensive, easy to put together, don't be surprised if you need to do additional... Read more

I bought this catapult for my roommate to play fetch with one of the cats. It was super fun to put together, and didn't take too long. The cats love chasing paper balls launched by it. We tested it's "effectiveness" by launching clay balls in the hallway, and it was pretty impressive how far it could launch it. Be really careful where your fingers are though, this puppy has a really sensitive trigger and can hurt a finger if it's in the wrong spot when the trigger lets go.

If you're looking for d.i.y. information on maintenance and minor repairs for your old house, skip this one. As the publisher says, it's pretty much all about major restorations by professionals, and there's very little the average homeowner could even participate in, let alone do on his or her own. If you want to learn how an architect chooses historically correct replacement windows for your old ones that stick, buy "This Old House." If you just want to know how to get the old ones unstuck, move on to "Family Handyman."

If you are a fan of This Old House, then you probably want to get this magazine. If you have been watching the show for a long time (who hasn't?) then you will feel like you are reading a magazine about family, as there is usually something in each issue from each of the show's participants.

The magazine offers more in-depth information about the projects you see on television. A big reason to get the magazine is to learn more about the materials used in the projects and where you can get them. In addition, there are projects covered in the magazine which are not done on the television series.

While the magazine, in my opinion, is a bit short on exact specifics, or "how-to's," one has to keep in mind that a lot of the attitude of the show seems to be "use a professional." This is a magazine for old house lovers -- people who like the style of an older home, for whom the things that break and the things that creak inspire renovation not cursing.

My wife and I live in our second old house, and have watched the TV show since before our first. For us pragmatic Norm the woodworker, blow-dried Steve the host, and spendthrift Richard the plumbing/HVAC guy are like family. This magazine provides occasional coverage of the project house you see on PBS which is a bonus for fans. But its main focus is to show you how you can fix up your own old house.

It is a great source of ideas, inspiration, and the vendors who can sell you what you'll need. Got an old house and the money and patience for renovation? If you do, get this magazine.

This magazine strikes the perfect balance between ambitious home improvements and simple quick fixes of home maintenance. As a "weekend warrior" around the house, I want to see projects that I can actually do in a reasonable amount of time and without every specialty tool known to mankind.

Every issue there is one project that might take 3 weekends and even if I don't intend to do them, I always learn something. Very clear, easy to understand instructions and tips along the way.

There are a good selection of cool tools and time saving tips for everyday projects. They embed enough humor to keep the reading interesting. About the only bad thing I can say is that occasionally, they get a bit corny with their jokes but even that has seemed to drop off lately.

My ONLY gripe with this magazine is that the pictures are like those you would find in GQ magazine: they hire models to show you driving a nail or shoveling dirt for that new patio. These people use only brand new tools (brand name label showing of course) in a perfect-world dust free environment. The pictures make it look like it's a Sears catalogue.

Aside from that, the articles are great making it one of the best magazines for the do-it-yourselfer. I have saved more money from the tips in this magazine than any other magazine I subscribe to. Most articles can be done by any semi-skilled craftsman with access to a decent set of tools, making it an approachable magazine for the DIY'er.

As a master furniture upholsterer and upholstery teacher, this book is the best book I have found on basic upholstery. The book is good enough that I use it as an out line for my upholstery classes. My students are very happy with the information and layout of the book and find it very helpful. If you want to learn the basics of furniture upholstery, this is it. It is the same as Singer Upholstery Basics but with some extras that are helpful. Buy it, follow it, and you have made a good start in upholstery.

Book takes you from uncovering your project to fabric layout, to tools to padding. A very very good book.

I have several giant re-upholstery projects planned. My eyes are probably bigger than my stomach here, but I'm going to give it a shot. I'm going to slowly purchase the recommended tools. There's a great tool list at the beginning of the book and I'm keeping it in my truck so that I have it on me when I run to the home improvement store to get the items one at a time.

The book goes over the tools, materials used in upholstery, and the basics of how to accomplish it. It goes over how to do reupholstering of antiques (using natural fibers, etc.), and how to make minor repairs to the frame. It's fairly comprehensive. I wouldn't say that you could go into business after reading the book, but the average person should be able to reupholster a basic chair with the help of this book. I imagine the more that you do it the better you'll get so that you'll be able to tackle larger projects and furniture over time.

The book is beautiful; I can't wait to tackle those chairs. Instructions are clear; the tools are thoroughly explained for a novice; the pictures make me believe they'll be calling me soon from the do-it-yourself TV shows. So many upholstery how-to's seem musty to me, very over-my-head and I didn't know they made couches that way since Grandma died. The Singer book chooses current styles and materials. I have three projects already.

This book has useful step by step info in many areas but misses important areas. For example, want to know how to replace an alcove tub, install new tile? Covers the tub to some extent. Then goes to installing panels around the tub. If you want steps for installing the tub, installing cement board, then the tile, this is not the book you need. Purchased a Plumbing book by BD. It has the very same pages and photos / steps.
